DANIEL GLENN
SPEAKING
FRIDAY
An Intro to Bomb Removal
When a trip to the bottom of a pool as a toddler gave Daniel Glenn a lifelong fear of water, he deemed it necessary to face his fears and join the United States Navy, where he became a diver, a bomb defuser, and a decorated Special Operations officer. Since that early brush with mortality, Dan has found himself in intense situations the world over—defusing IEDs in Iraq, dodging avalanches on glaciers in Alaska, diving alongside Great Whites in the Pacific, handling severe altitude sickness and hypothermia in the Himalayas, playing high-stakes games with Chinese intelligence officials, and racing armed Iranian dhows in the Persian Gulf.
Dan's perspective of remaining calm, having a plan versus improvising, and relying on community, will remind you of the power within, and will challenge your answer to the question, What is normal? At Human Kind, hear Dan’s lessons learned in experience, and hear how we can better deal with adversity to achieve our potential.
