DR MICHAEL SUGHRUE

While Dr Michael Sughrue grew up in a small town in Oklahoma, there’s nothing small about his impact. After studying medicine in Columbia university he went on to study neurosurgery at the University of California in San Francisco. From there, he completed a fellowship in Sydney and went back to serve as the Director of the Brain Tumour Centre at the University of Oklahoma for 7 years. All of this is to say that when it comes to the brain, Dr Sughrue is an expert.

All of his experience and expertise inspired him to found Omniscient Neurotechnology, an artificial intelligence startup that’s aimed at radically accelerating the evolution of our understanding of human brain disease and mental illness. This blend of artificial intelligence, and Dr Seghrue’s profound understanding of the brain, has led to Omniscient being named Australia's most promising Unicorn Company by the Australian Financial Review—winning The Most Innovative Artificial Intelligence Company in the World at 2022 SXSW Awards—and winning Best Machine Learning Medical Imaging Company at the 2022 MICCAI Awards.
