Restoration & Science

A view from space provided NASA-certified engineer Stephen Rodan with his bold vision to save the Great Barrier Reef. Via satellite imagery, he saw the extent of bleaching that threatens one of the natural wonders of the world.

It drove him to develop technologies that would nurture this spectacular, yet fragile, ecosystem. Specifically, a coral farming robot called CHARM (Coral Husbandry Aquaculture Raceway Machine).

As humanity confronts the existential crisis of climate change, this is an inspirational story about attempting to rewrite the future. Using innovation in physical, digital, and biology spheres as a force for good: protecting and sustaining the planet for future generations.
